Strengthening operational intelligence through AI

Speria has acquired Optifarm, a UK-based provider of AI-driven livestock monitoring solutions. The acquisition strengthens Speria by adding capabilities that support the long-term development of more predictive, proactive, and ultimately autonomous food production systems.

Optifarm’s technology analyzes real-time animal behavior and environmental signals, such as water consumption patterns, to detect early signs of health deviations. These insights are translated into actionable operational intelligence that can be integrated into Speria’s connected offering.

Builds towards our long-term vision

This acquisition reflects Speria’s core purpose: to help food producers operate more proactively, predictably, and efficiently. By driving the digital transformation of global food systems in partnership with our customers, we are turning data into insight and insight into real-world impact. This is another step toward our long-term vision of a more autonomous food supply chain.

“With Optifarm, we strengthen how animal health intelligence is embedded into mission critical operations operations,” says Pia Brantgärde Linder, President of FoodTech and GVP of Munters Group. “Their expertise in translating real-time animal signals into decisions supports how we connect data, software with controllers to generate impact. This is a key step in building more predictive and autonomous operations over time.”

”Joining Speria feels like a natural next step”

Founded in 2014 and based in Chesterfield, UK, Optifarm has customers in 18 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The company has transitioned from a broiler farming service provider to a technology business focused on AI-driven farm insights.

“For me, it’s clear that real progress towards autonomy can only happen if we work closely together”, comments David Speller, founder of Optifarm. “That’s why joining Speria feels like a natural next step: it allows us to be part of a larger, shared vision and to contribute at the scale needed to make a real difference. We genuinely see ourselves as a strong addition to the portfolio – not by overlapping, but by complementing each other and strengthening the value we can create together.”

A long-term capability investment

This acquisition is a long-term capability investment and will be integrated step-by-step into the Speria offering over time, including the Sonar connectivity layer and the existing portfolio of controllers, sensors, and gateways.

“We see long-term synergies with Optifarm,” Pia Brantgärde Linder adds. “Their capabilities strengthen how we build intelligence into our existing solutions, connecting to any data source, including our own cloud-based controllers.”
